Monday Mezcal

Quite a bit of heat and subtle smoke while still being fairly light. Some of our panelists found it too spicy while others enjoyed the burn in a margarita. We'd prefer a bit more smoke to call it a traditional mezcal.

Pentire Seaward

A subtle, clear spirit with warming spice. Our panel found it complex, bright, and interesting while some said it was too subtle.

Seedlip Spice 94

A lovely spice nose and notes of clove hold up nicely with tonic. There is almost a tannic texture which we attributed to the distilled barks.

Bax Botanics Sea Buckthorn

Spiced fruit nose. Complex and nuanced with moderate lingering bitterness. Add a touch of sweetness when mixing into cocktails, for balance.

Abstinence Cape Floral

A unanimous panel favorite. Floral forward with strong geranium and rose notes which were balanced enough to appeal even to floral-averse panelists. A light tonic brought out a delicate complexity. We thought this would also be excellent in lemonade.

Pentire Adrift

A bit spicy and very herbal, almost brackish. Our panel detected basil notes. Especially good for those who enjoy building strong flavors into a cocktail or for an herb-forward martini.

Seedlip Grove 42

The citrus expression of the Seedlip line with notes of orange, and lemon and a very subtle peppercorn finish. Distilled with lemongrass and ginger which we found too subtle to detect in tasting.

Lyre’s White Cane Spirit

Our panel found this to have a pleasing aroma and a delicate flavor. We mixed it into a classic daiquiri, where it performed nicely although we added slightly more product in order to not be overpowered by the citrus notes.

Monday Gin

Most likely among the gins to fool us into thinking it was alcoholic. Slightly floral but with plenty of juniper, it’s ideal for adding to gin-based cocktails. A panel favorite.

Tweedle Botanicals

A unanimous panel favorite. Cloudy color with a slight anise, root beer nose, almost medicinal. Our panel noted balanced flavors including citrus/bitter grapefruit, wintergreen, and anise.

Omission Good To Go Golden

A good example of a golden with a nice hop taste, notes of barley and hay, and a good aroma.

Guinness 0

Our panel panel was divided on this long awaited release from Guinness. Some found it very similar to the original while others struggled with what they described as increased bitterness and a thinner texture. The nitro can adds to its authenticity.

Atmos Kora Double Hop IPA

Hits all the right IPA notes with convincing depth. The finish was lingeringly bitter in an enjoyable way.

Grüvi Pale Ale

A good aroma with a mellow hop character, it tasted like a traditional IPA to the panel. There is a slight sweetness to it but it finished with a nice bitter character.

A subtle flavor: slightly sweet and mellow with the aroma of freshly baked bread.

Athletic Brewing All Out Extra Dark

Very dry with notes of dark chocolate. Slightly thinner than expected which we've found to be the case with the darker non-alcoholic beers.

Self Care Freak Flag IPA

All the flavors of a hazy IPA while remaining on the lighter side. Some panel members are familiar with this Olympia brewery’s alcoholic wing—Three Magnets—and noted that all of the beers of theirs we tasted were on par with their alcoholic offerings.

Barrel Bothers Morello Barrel Aged Sour with Cherries

This beer is about as sour as it gets, which was good news for the hardcore sour fans on our panel. If this is you, you know who you are. There was a lot of nuance to this, including the slightly caramel notes from the barrel and the tart sweetness of the morello cherries. This is a treat for sour fans.

Untitled Art Juicy IPA

A great aroma and a bit sweeter than some other IPAs with faint tropical notes. We found this to have a good mouthfeel, though some of our panel thought the texture less satisfying that a regular juicy IPA.
