Athletic Brewing Dark & Gourdy

With a nose ranging from earthy to medicinal with a caramel finish, we tasted notes of chocolate and light spice with the pleasantly vegetal presence of pumpkin. Not overly carbonated. Reminded one of our panelists of a “holiday Guinness.”

Barrel Bothers Morello Barrel Aged Sour with Cherries

This beer is about as sour as it gets, which was good news for the hardcore sour fans on our panel. If this is you, you know who you are. There was a lot of nuance to this, including the slightly caramel notes from the barrel and the tart sweetness of the morello cherries. This is a treat for sour fans.

Shiner Rodeo Citrus Wit

Panelists with expertise in the beer category noted that this was a good nonalcoholic representation of this brand’s alcoholic beer. The light-beer scent took many panelists back to college days. Light in flavor, a hint of sourness, and some astringency. We didn’t recognize a citrus component.

Athletic Brewing Layback Lime & Salt

A distinct scent of lime and hops with a hint of pear. We tasted lime initially, with gentle bubbles and found the flavor light and a bit astringent with a suggestion of salt. Little to no sweetness. The panel noted it was refreshing and summery, a possible cousin of sour beer.

Busty Lush She's Divine Oatmeal Dark

A chocolate nose with savory barley notes and a rich texture. Malty and not too sweet. Some felt the carbonation was heavier than expected for a dark beer.

Self Care Freak Flag IPA

All the flavors of a hazy IPA while remaining on the lighter side. Panel members noted that this was on par with Three Magnets' traditional alcoholic options.

Grüvi Pale Ale

A good aroma with a mellow hop character, it tasted like a traditional IPA to the panel. There is a slight sweetness to it but it finished with a nice bitter character.

A good example of a golden with a nice hop taste, notes of barley and hay, and a good aroma.
